AeroShell® Oils are straight mineral oils used primarily during break-in of most four-stoke cycle certificated aviation piston engines. AeroShell® Oils are blended from selected high viscosity index base stocks and contain pour point depressants for improved fluidity at cold temperatures. AeroShell® Oils are available in Aviation Grades 65, 80, 100 and 120 (SAE equivalent grades 30, 40, 50 and 60.). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Applications:
four-stroke cycle certificated aircraft reciprocating piston engines when use of an ashless dispersant (AD) oil is not required used for break-in of most certificated four-stroke cycle aviation piston engines. The duration and lubrication for break-in vary, so aircraft owners should refer to the original engine manufacturer and/or overhaul facility for specific recommendations. antique aircraft, which operate with very low oil temperatures or in aircraft that, have previously been run exclusively on mineral oil for an extend period of time -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Features:

Aeroshell® Oil W80 Plus is a new single grade oil that combines the single grade, ashless dispersant performance, as well as the anti-wear/ anti-corrosion additives, found in Aeroshell® Oil W100 Plus with a lighter weight oil for colder climates. It’s the oil for pilots who prefer a single grade but who also want the extra protection and performance that additives can bring.
Aeroshell® Oil W80 Plus Highlights:
Blended from selected high viscosity mineral base oils Contains AeroShell’s proven W Oils additive package Additional anti-wear additives (containing an additive equivalent to Lycoming additive LW 16702) Additional anti-corrosion additives Fully compatible with other approved aircraft piston engine oils
Equipment Manufactures Approvals The use of Aeroshell® Oil W80 Plus complies with the following requirements:
Textron Lycoming Service Instruction 1014 Service Bulletin 446 Service Bulletin 471
Teledyne Continental Motors SIL 99-2
FAA Airworthiness Directive 80-04-03
Specifications: Approved SAE J-1899 SAE Grade 40 Aeroshell® Oil W80 Plus already contains, in the correct proportions, an anti-wear additive equivalent to the Lycoming additive LW 16702; thus it already complies with FAA Airworthiness Directive 80-04-03. Operators who use Aeroshell® Oil W80 Plus DO NOT need to add this Lycoming additive to the oil. Aeroshell® Oil W80 Plus is qualified for use in all Textron Lycoming and Teledyne Continental Motors liquid-cooled and aircooled aircraft piston engines.
Applications:
The advanced additives in Aeroshell® Oil W80 Plus provide better rust and wear protection than conventional single grades. The additives work as a protective barrier to prevent critical parts from being slowly degraded by rust or wear, especially when an aircraft is used infrequently. This protection helps keep the camshaft and lifters protected, especially during engine start, reducing the likelihood of premature damage and helping engines reach TBO.
