Sand classification:
Classification is a process where aggregate producers remove excess ultra-fines from the sand. Sand classification is usually done by washing the aggregate with large quantities of water to separate ultra-fines; this process is known as WET CLASSIFICATION. This leads to wastage as the water used for washing of sand often cannot be retreated for further use.
In our country we are facing water crisis problem and as environmental consciousness is high, there is increase concerned for usage of high quantity of water to wash the sand.
As a solution to the water requirement problem during the classification AIR DYNAMICS has come up with the air classifier unit. Air classifier effectively combines gravitational, and aerodynamic forces to classify materials at cut points, ranging from 5 to 200 mesh (300 to 75 microns) for concrete sand. Dry classification is innovation over wet classification method, which is more environment friendly, as there is no water wastage and is much more economical due to the less set up cost for the plant. It is ideally suited for manufacturing of high grade concrete sand.
Working Principle:
Air classifiers combine gravitational, and aerodynamic forces to efficiently classify materials at cut points. The feed material and primary air enter the top of the unit and travels downwards. It then exits through the vanes, carrying fine particles with it. The heavy coarse particles falls to the bottom,
Thus ultrafine are removed and finally course material is classified. The air with ultrafine will enter into the pulse jet filter and then the air is discharged to the atmosphere.
