This heat exchanger is constructed of 304 stainless steel plates brazed with copper. The "wort in", "wort out" are male 1/2" NPT fittings. The "water out" is a male garden hose fitting. Unlike other plate chillers that need an adapter, the "water in" is a female swivel garden hose fitting, so it can be easily hooked up to a garden hose.
This chiller is capable of cooling your boiling wort to 75 F at a rate of .85 gal (3.2 L) per minute with 68 F (20 C) cooling water, or cool your boiling wort to 68 F at a rate of 1.75 gal (6.6 liters) per minute with 38 F (3.3 C) water. This chiller is approximately 70% more efficient then the Shirron plate wort chiller.
This chiller also has 2 mounting holes on the back to allow it to be mounted on a plate or a stand. Mounting hardware is not included. See picture for details.
The Plate Chiller Backflush Adapter makes it easy to attach a garden hose to the NPT threads of this heat exchanger to simplify washing. It can either be looped to pump hot cleaning solution (such as PBW) using a pump, or it can be attached to a faucet using a kitchen sink-to-garden hose adapter to push hot water through in the opposite direction of the normal wort flow.
Also recommended are the Blichmann QuickConnect™ fittings. These allow you to easily attach either 3/8" or 1/2" tubing to the wort side of the chiller. With these fittings, everything that touches the wort is either stainless steel or silicone. They install without tools, are easy to disassemble, and sanitizing is easy. You need one fitting for the wort in, and one for wort out. See below to add.
