Bahrain Ferro Alloys BSC (c) (BAFA) is the first non-integrated Ferro-Alloy producer in Bahrain located in the Hidd Industrial Area of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Founded by a leading Industrial visionary of Bahrain, the late Yousuf Ahmed Al Shirawi (the former Minister for Oil and Industrial Development of the State of Bahrain), Early 2008, BAFA been acquired by the renowned Emirates Trading Agency, ETA Star Group which was established in Dubai United Arab Emirates in 1971, ETA Star is headed by a team of seasoned professionals with skills in business management, consulting, project-finance, banking and metallurgy, which makes BAFA confident of achieving success in current challenging market conditions. BAFA plant/furnace been modified, tested at each stage, commissioned and started commercial production since August 2008. Currently the plant produces High Carbon Ferro-manganese (HCFeMn). However, the high degree of flexibility in design and structure allows BAFA for product diversification to include various Ferro Alloys including Ferro-Chrome Silico-Manganese and Ferro Silicon in its product range. BAFA has its own captive power generation plant; expansion projects are already underway to allow for the installation of a 'sinter' plant as well as a converter facility to produce medium carbon alloys. BAFA has recently acquired additional land for extension of its Auxiliary units to meet the installation of new, additional furnaces that will result in doubling its installed capacity in the coming 18 months. The company is also currently exploring opportunities of adding on smelting capacities in the region so as to benefit from the source of abundant Hydro Carbon resources.
