Base Station Controller or BSC is a DECT exchange for wireless subscribers and provides an interface
to Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). Functions such as call processing, BS power feed and PCM/ADPCM
transcoding are handled by the BSC.
The BSC offers features:
1. Voice and Data Calls;
2. support for AOI (Always-On Internet);
3. operations and maintenance console;
4. switching or access point;
5. local and remote call monitoring.
Key Specifi cations
Number of Subscribers 1000 (Maximum); per BSC (2000/BSC- optional)
Number of Base Station 20 (Maximum); per BSC
Number of BSDs 5 (Maximum); per BSC
Number of E1 interface 8 per BSC
lines to PSTN
Redundancy Hot standby provided for all controller cards.
a. Access Mode - V.52
- SS7 or R2MF (BSC confi gured as RLU)
In this mode BSC can be confi gured as a DECT access point using SS7 protocol.
In this case the parent exchange takes over the switching responsiblity and BSC
behaves as an access point.
b. Switch Mode - SS7
Busy Hour Call Attempts 20,000
Voice Coding Toll quality, 32 kbps ADPCM as per ITU T G.726
Number of Tones Up to 11
Number of three party 8
Number of announcements 10 (Two six-second segment played alternately for each announcement.)
Modulations GFSK, MC-TDMA
Data Transmission rate 32 kbps (simultaneous voice and data) or 64 kbps data only.
Call Monitoring (Applicable - Local
to Switching mode only) - Remote
