Discount or gift coupes can serve as as powerful tools to promote your business and boost your sales. The terms”discounts” and“free goodies” have some magical factors that nobody can deny. They will make one buy even those stuff which are listed downward in their priority list. As a business owner, the best part of these coupons are that you can use them anytime to increase your sales. Those who are selling decoratives can take advantage of such coupons during the festive seasons while those dealing with household products can offer them anytime during the year.  They can boost your traffic even on a slow day. It's all up to you when and how you want to lure your customers with such privileges. There are several different ways to distribute such discount or gift certificates. The following are some that you may consider for your small business.

1. The first is of course the age old tradition way of making them a part of your newspaper ads. You can add a few lines in your regular ads stating bring the newspaper cutting and get an attractive discount or some free goodies. Remember to get your advertisement in all the major newspapers of the town. You can also insert such coupons in some publications as well as on your websites.

2. You can tie up with some complementary businesses to distribute your gift coupons. For example, those who run fast food outlets can get tied up with amusement parks and retail stores. In return, you allow them to use a little space within your outlet to place their advertisement. This way you can create a win-win situation for both the businesses. However, be very careful while selecting your partner. It must not be a competitor. Thereby, an amusement park or a retail store that own a fast food outlet within their premises will not be an appropriate partner to distribute your coupons.

3. Those who have membership clubs for their customers can offer membership coupons. Those who are have retail stores, restaurants and fast food outlets, and amusement parks can take special advantage of such discount/ gift certificates. You can ask your existing customers to become your member and in return you provide certain privileges in forms of gifts and special discounts. Similarly, you can get partnered with some clubs and offer such coupons for their privileged members.

4. Another way to distribute your coupons is by stuffing them into your customer's bags. Offer them a special discount or a free gift in their next purchase of a particular amount and beyond. This is like giving away an incentive to your returning customers.

5. Referral gift coupons are also popular these days. You can ask your existing customers to participate in your referral programs. And if those referrals make any purchase, they will get a discount or gifts in their next purchase.

6. You can even mail your coupons to your to existing customers. For this you need to maintain a database of your customers and update their address on a regular basis. A  relatively inexpensive option is sending the same as email attachment.
