Selling online is one of the most cost effective ways of starting your own business. Here are few tips for setting up your own online shop:

Decide what to sell: First of all you need to decide the product you want to sell. Opting for Amazon approach of selling nearly everything on this stage will be over ambitious. Instead, it is preferable to find a niche that will help you to dominate online marketplace. Opt for a product or a marketplace, where there are not too many competitors. For instance, you may open a small jewelry store. Once you have set up your online store, find an attractive name for it.

Product pricing: Setting an appropriate price for your product or service is one of the most important business decisions. Growth of business will be affected, if you set too low or high price. Also, ensure that the price you set for your product allows you to generate adequate profit returns. Consider the cost of sourcing, production, packaging and delivering the product while setting the price of your product.

Payments modes: You need to opt for a payment gateway. Decide how you want to accept payments online. In case you want to accept payments through debit and credit card, you will need an internet merchant account (IMA). Other methods of processing card payments for online transactions are online payment processing services.

Promote your online store: After you have set up an online shop, you need to promote your shop to attract customers. There are many ways for promoting your online store, such as search engine optimization. Optimizing your e-commerce website and making it search engine friendly can help you to get a higher ranking in search results.

Customer service: Provide excellent customer service to your customers. Providing good customer support will help you to retain your customers. They will keep coming back to you. Further, they will recommend you to their friends and family.
