COMPANY PROFILE

Chatterson Janitorial Supplies Ltd. has been operating in Regina since Mel and Jyl Chatterson opened the doors in May of 1967. The Chatterson family has been involved in the distribution business ever since. The company was formed when Mel, Jyl and a partner by the name of Wally McMillan decided that they would create a new business suitably named Chatterson McMillan Co. Ltd. In 1969 Mel and Jyl bought the partner out and continued under the same name. Their son Garth Chatterson remembers the early days were operated from a small office in the Regent Park Shopping Center on Sherwood Drive in Regina. Garth remembers the hours spent by his parents as being long but everyone was satisfied. Mel was the sales force and Jyl was the office staff. They had soon outgrown the small office in Regent Park and moved into a larger facility on 8th Ave. They took on more help in the sales department and finally took on the Saskatchewan franchise rights to Michael\'s Equipment and Chemicals. In 1970 they were on the move again and bought a company called Unit Supply and moved into a larger facility on 13th Ave. There they enjoyed more school business and more growth. Soon that facility was outgrown and they moved to the existing property on Dewdney Ave in 1973. It was at this time that Garth joined the company and helped out in the warehouse and delivery. Garth continued to learn the business with a hands on approach and continued through on sales. His destiny has been on the inside sales and management of the company. On February 3, 1986 Garth bought the company and marked that moment in time by re-naming the operating company to Chatterson Janitorial Supplies Ltd. Garth\'s wife, Carolyn, joined the company in 1983 on a part time basis while they raised their three beautiful girls. Carolyn is now the second share holder in the company and looks after the accounts payable and purchasing departments. Our oldest daughter, Angela, has been involved in the business through her schooling years since 1997. She attended the University of Regina and attained her B. Admin degree in 2001. She continues to apply what she has learned to the marketing and management of the company. She has been a real welcomed member to our management team. Our second oldest daughter, Mandy, has been involved in the business through her schooling years since 1999. She attended the University of Regina and attained her B. Admin degree in 2003. Her accounting background is certainly welcomed by our management team. Mandy has attained her CGA designation and is currently working for a large accounting firm in Regina. Her talents are still welcomed while helping us out on the weekends. Our youngest daughter, Alissa, achieved her designation in remedial massage therapy and works full time as a massage therapist. The original founders, Mel and Jyl retired in 1999. Sadly Jyl passed away February 2, 2006 and Mel passed away on February 17, 2008. Their memories are alive and well with us. Currently the company is operated by the second and third generations of Chattersons. Chatterson Janitorial Supplies Ltd. markets top quality products, equipment and sanitary paper systems to all areas of Saskatchewan. The head office is located in Regina. This is one of the few remaining, true family owned and operated janitorial supply businesses left in Saskatchewan.
