SLAB panels (3” and 4” polystyrene) are structural self-supporting and self-assembling panels specifically designed to build unidirectional floor or roof slabs in a short time. The required tasks for their installation are substantially minimized since, apart from their innovative design of reinforced zigzag framework, they include two ribs with reinforcing steel, making in this way a rigid I-beam Floor System.
Once the panels are installed, a concrete compression layer is poured on their upper side, beginning by the ribs and, then, extending it on the whole surface, so as to get a 4 cm thickness, from the wire outwards. The minimum f’c strength will be of 200 kg/cm2, prepared with 3/8” gravel (“coarse aggregate”). As the bottom layer is not part of the strength system, it can be covered with a minimum thickness of cement-sand mortar prepared on site. It is even possible to fix precast layers to the ribs.
The panels consist of a tridimensional structure made of highly resistant zinc-coated or polished steel wire, with a creep limit fy of 5,000 kg/cm2, with a central structure of polygonal bars and rib forms of expanded polystyrene. Ribs have a separation of 50.8 from center to center.
