A portable computer interfaced system for accurately and rapidly performing detailed reservoir fracture orientation and description measurements. The CAG-600 uses a hand guided stylus arm to digitize planar features such as fractures and bedding. Information on fracture type, origin, presence of hydrocarbons, or stains can be entered through the interactive menu driven software. After orientation and description data have been collected the data can be analyzed through a separate program which can perform rotations and generate rose diagrams, dip histograms, plot poles to planes, and contoured ole plots as well as print the data in tabular format.
