A water cooled downdraft retort that offers digital precision and versatile sample size options. Oil and water are collected in volumetric glassware enabling fluid saturation determinations that aid in the evaluation of expected petroleum production. Can be ordered with an optional sidewall sample chamber kit for small samples. A CD-480, CAP-240, PHI-220, and suitable weighing balance are required for complete analysis.

The CR-200 is a water-cooled downdraft retort that offers digital precision and versatile sample size options. The unit is used to extract oil and water from core samples by incrementally retorting (heating) the core sample to a final temperature of 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. The core samples are contained in a heat treated stainless steel chamber that is subsequently placed into the retort. The CR-200 retort offers a maximum sample capacity of 20 with two individual compartments that allow the user to isolate 10 of the chambers and only use half of the retort when small sample runs are required. As the samples are heated water is distilled first followed by oil.
The distilled volumes travel inside stainless steel tubing through a cooling water bath that condenses the gases to liquid. The distilled liquids are collected in volumetrically calibrated glassware. Water collection recovery approaches 100% while oil collection recovery varies from 60% to 85% depending on oil composition. The standard CR-200 retort comes with 120 gram sample chambers; however, smaller 40 gram cups and adapter tubes are available as options for sidewall and small samples. Custom cup volumes are also available upon request. FEATURES:
