Two of the original direct drive speed lathes from the 1950's and through the 1960's are the 2ABPL and the 10ACPL. The 2ABPL has a 161 frame, either 1/2 HP or 3/4 HP, and two speeds switchable between 1800 RPM and 3600 RPM. Parts for the 2ABPL are loaded into the collet inside the direct drive spindle. Collet closure is achieved mechanically by rotating the handle on the collet end of the motor. Rotating the opposing handle activates the mechanical brake.

from the early 1980's the 30bdpl-a was our original belt driven air-collet closure speed lathe. we are proud that over 5,000 belt driven air-collet speed lathes have been delivered to date. our current and most popular version is the model 30dc speed lathe which uses equivalent internal parts. this makes it possible for us to use the spindle assembly and rebuild your 30bdpl-a by adding a variable speed motor controller, motor and new housing at 2/3rd's the cost of a new model 30dc speed lathe. if you interested in conversions please contact us.
