Dried Black Mission Figs (so named because they were first cultivated in California missions in the 18th century) are both delicious and healthful. As rich in calcium as milk, figs have no fat, cholesterol or sodium, are high in fiber and can be an important part of a balanced diet.
High in natural fruit sugars, figs provide a quick burst of energy in a nutritious and delicious form. Mission figs are teardrop in shape with thin black skin and a reddish flesh. Sweeter than honey these larger figs are the cream of the crop.
