In this era of global travel where increasing numbers of people are boarding flights for purposes such as business, vacations or employment - the role played by the travel coordinator cannot be underestimated. Hemas recognised the need within Sri Lanka for an efficient travel agency at a very early stage, and were pioneers in the field when we established our original company, Hemas Travels, in the 1970s.
Today Hemas Travel comprises two Divisions - Hemas Corporate Travel / HRG and Prime Destinations - the former focusing on business travellers and the latter concentrating on vacation planning. The two Divisions combine to form one of Sri Lanka's largest travel agencies, and have consistently been winners of multiple industry awards from international airlines. We provide each of our different consumer segments a customized and complete travel solution, and handle all aspects of travel including ticket handling, worldwide hotel reservations, vehicle rentals, and issuance of travel insurance. In addition to our two specialised divisions we also operate a general unit that focuses on consolidation for small to medium customers and sub-agents.
We are an IT savvy company - and were the first in Sri Lanka to link up with the Global Airline Distribution system, thereby ensuring real-time access to airline and hotel inventories. We have incorporated SAP into our operations in order to coordinate back office functions. We also operate a comprehensive website that enables users to research and plan their travel, and allows online bookings for airline tickets. The site also includes a track and trace system that provides a client's international position at anytime.
