Henry Winning & Co was formed in 1880 from the marriage of James Hamilton and Annie Winning, hence the name Henry Winning & Co. James and Annie had four sons, three of which went into the business John, William and James. Johns sons James and Alex joined the firm in the early 1930, and ran the business until the mid to late 80. Alexs son John and Jamess son Robert were brought in as Partners in the late 70 and as the fourth generation, are running the Company as it is today. The Company have now specialised in the manufacture of twines. Throughout the previous decade, the business was split between merchanting the twines the Company could not produce itself, and cleaning and re selling used flour bags to the coal and associated trades. Today we are leaders in the production of twines for food applications and 95% of the products sold by the Company are produced in our factory at Caroline Street, Glasgow, UK.
