Considering the positive and negative points of insulators in terms of composition type, the weaknesses can be decreased and the strengths increased by combining the insulators.
Considered as a negative point while silicone insulators due to hydrophobic property have more appropriate performance against the accumulation of contamination on the surface of insulators on the other hand, low strength in rod (core) of silicone insulators can be highly strengthened by high strength rod of porcelain insulators.
With this approach, about several years ago, the generation of hybrid insulators was accepted by the users in some countries.
Since 2005, study, research, and manufacture of samples of these insulators have been started in Magharesazi Iran Co. and with experimental production of long rod insulator (instead of two 70 KN disk insulators) and hybrid pin type insulator for distribution lines, expect to be successful is very likely in level of electric distribution in country.
The hybrid pin type insulators can be connected to console both with rod, and with flange and screw and the bending strength is about 20 KN compared with silicone pin type insulators (about 7-8 KN) is very suitable.
Also the silicone sheds of these insulators providing an appropriate creep age distance, can have very good performance in contaminated environments
