The John Lawrie Group is the largest and leading metal recycler and exporter of processed scrap metal in the North and North-east of Scotland, with strategically located SEPA licensed waste treatment facilities close to quaysides and offering a full range of services. Handling, processing and exporting around 200,000 tonnes per annum, it is ideally placed to offer decommissioning services to the oil and gas market.
This is not a new area of activity for John Lawrie, as it has successfully carried out a number of decommissioning projects involving the dismantling of large oilfield and industrial structures. With sustainability in mind, John Lawrie has been progressively developing its expertise in the deconstruction, processing, recycling and disposal of a range of redundant subsea materials, including flexible risers and flowlines, umbilicals, manifolds, trees, mid water buoys, mooring systems, concrete mattresses, and various associated items.
In line with client and regulatory requirements, its primary objective is to maximise recycling and minimise disposal. To this end it has successfully developed processing methods resulting in high recovery and recycling rates of both the metallic and non metallic content, in a number of cases up to 100%.
The company enjoys excellent working relationships with a number of Port operators. Consequently, it is well positioned to collect and/or receive redundant materials from a variety of onshore geographic locations. With its own fleet of specialist trucks, lifting and cutting equipment, and a fully mobile and trained workforce, most projects are undertaken within a single integrated package.
