Kenneth Lynch spent several years traveling abroad during the late 1950's and early 1960's. On his travels he was compelled to make large purchases of classic statuary from Italy, England and Japan. He had the vision to bring the beauty of the sculptures from those tremendous acquisitions to America. He employed several master mold makers and apprentices and set to work on creating an inventory of molds that would allow production of the fine specimens for use in public and private gardens through out the country.
The advantage of the cast stone material that he had developed (which in recent years has been further improved upon by the use of environmentally friendly chemicals) was that it could withstand the cold temperatures of even the northern parts of the United States; a far different temperature than the mild climate where the stone carvings originate from in Italy.
Much of the lead statuary we offer is of classic English design. We also have a sizable collection of American style artistry by several different artists from whom Kenneth Lynch commissioned work. All of these pieces continue the style of clean lines and defined features which Kenneth Lynch found so appealing in the English statuary.
A small offering of fine Japanese art is available in the form of lanterns and devotional figures. With the event of carved granite being wildly imported from China it is important to note that our items are of cast stone and are made in our own facility. The statues feature sharp definition to facial features and clothing ornament, unlike the granite pieces earlier mentioned.
