Kleen-Flo dairy Equipment rose from the ashes of the Chore-Boy milking equipment line. After selling the product line last November, and while we were still producing for the new owner, a friend and former dealer suggested we get into the business of making small scale dairy processing equipment. It was an easy sell. There has always been an interest in small volume milk processing, particularly on the farm. In recent years this interest has grown rapidly at both the farm and consumer level. We feel this interest growth is now of a level that it can support an equipment company specializing in small scale equipment. This interest is greatest, both from a producer and consumer viewpoint, in cheese and yogurt. Cow, goat, sheep and even water buffalo (required to make true mozzarella) products are increasingly being made on the farm in an array of choices not normally found in stores. Farmstead made butter is also making somewhat of a come back. In January, after we finished producing for the new owner, work started on the new company. We use the same philosophy that Chore-Boy was operated under. Produce good solid equipment with the fewest possible bells and whistles. This would give equipment reliability at the lowest possible cost. it also meant the operator would need to monitor the processing rather than rely on modern electronic controls. This was not seen as a problem in an owner operated facility.
