Pashmina, from the Persian word for wool, is known in the west as cashmere wool, from the old spelling for Kashmir. Due to the harsh weather conditions cashmere goats have developed a very thin, short inner coat of hair which is the best natural insulation in the world. Pashmina is only 12 - 14 microns thick. A human hair is 75 microns thick. Today most of the world's pashmina shawls are woven on a warp of spun silk for increased suppleness and strength. In recent years this silk and cashmere blend has become the most sought after accessory in the western fashion world. Being one of the leading manufacturers of pashmina, we have also been developing new series with cotton and cashmere blend. Our pashmina's remarkable qualities go far beyond fashion. Because it is nearly weightless, you can fold a pashmina into your pocket and it will emerge wrinkle free to warm and protect you. Pashmina is so incredibly soft and smooth, not scratchy or bulky like other wool fabrics, you'll feel like you're wearing a gentle caress.
