Founded in 1992, Magtec is currently the only company in the UK designing and manufacturing whole-system electric and hybrid electric traction drives across a wide range of vehicles. The systems are manufactured at our own engineering facility in Sheffield. Magtec prides itself on providing a reliable service based on proven expertise. We have an established track record in supplying drive systems for use in hybrid electric buses. Our first hybrid electric drive systems were fitted to buses in the USA in 1999. We have also worked extensively with the defence industries in the UK and Sweden on specialist vehicle projects. Magtec designs and manufactures complete hybrid electric and electric drive systems for buses and commercial vehicles. Our systems can result in significant emission reductions, fuel savings of more than 30%, improved performance, a smoother drive and reduced maintenance with a quieter and cleaner operating environment for drivers, passengers and pedestrians. With the growing pressure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ongoing increases in fuel prices and maintenance costs, bus and truck operators need a sustainable approach to their transport operations. Hybrid and electric drive systems can provide simple, cost-effective solutions to help operators reduce their carbon footprints. Our lightweight, compact diesel-electric hybrid drive systems are designed to be retrofitted to existing vehicles. We also supply components to original equipment manufacturers for use in new vehicles.
