At Metro Mold & Design, we have an impressive range of capabilities in custom plastic injection molding. We have two fully equipped molding facilities with state of the art machines that reliably produce custom plastic injection molding of small to large molded parts. For high volume injection molding opportunities we can also automate production for maximum efficiency that never compromises accuracy.
Our expertise with automation allows Metro Mold & Design to provide a quality product at a lower cost in high volumes. Robotic automation allows for 24/7 operations in which we can create automated manufacturing cells to work with multiple molding presses and perform multiple functions. Our automation experience perfectly complements our custom plastic injection molding and enables us to reliably produce high volumes of completed products.
At Metro Mold & Design we excel at the insert molding of custom parts. Our specific experience and expertise with insert molding allows us to produce insert molded products, using a wide range of inserts and fasteners. In many cases we may also use robotics for the loading and removal of insert molded parts to further improve efficiency.
Every step of Metro Mold & Design’s rapid injection molding process is customized to the customer’s final requirements. The production can include single and multi-cavity molds and we can over-mold a variety of products. A typical application for over-molding at Metro Mold & Design is the over-molding of surgical instruments and tools – where we can provide a soft touch, easy to grip handle on many instruments.
Our custom plastic injection molding presses have versatile capabilities. We utilize presses as small as 33 tons up to 650 tons, providing Metro Mold & Design the ability to offer manufacturing of small to large parts. Some of the larger parts we have manufactured with custom plastic injection molding include printer cartridges with complex geometry that are about 2 ½ feet long and 4” in diameter. We also have extensive experience working with both commodity and engineering resins.
When Metro Mold & Design starts a plastic injection molding project we review the original design with automation or assembly in mind. We always seek ways to save on cost and ensure a rapid turnaround wherever possible. With automation we can run production 24/7 with little to no operator involvement or cost. This “lights out” rapid injection molding reduces costs and improves capacity. We design your product for manufacturability and a longer product life.
For customers that require clean molding conditions for custom plastic injection molding, we can use our portable clean rooms, and provide you with the clean room conditions you need to meet your product’s specifications. Metro Mold & Design has the facilities, equipment, processes, and experience to ensure that your product is clean and exact.
