ADInstruments Stimulators are software-controlled, constant-current stimulators with 100 V compliance. Two options exist; both are designed for use in vitro, for example, with isolated nerve, muscle or tissue samples. The Stimulus Isolator is also suitable for in vivo applications such as human nerve and muscle stimulation studies.
The units require connection to the PowerLab via a special communications connector called the I2C bus, and to the PowerLab analog output via a BNC connector. ADInstruments Stimulators maintain electrical isolation and produce LabChart software-adjustable, constant-current pulses of:
- 10 microsecond to 4 milliseconds duration,
- 0.1 to 30 Hz pulse frequency (in vitro) or 0.1 to 2000 Hz (in vivo),
- up to 100 mA pulse amplitude (in vitro) or up to 10 mA pulse amplitude (in vivo).
