Polyimide tape is used to protect specific area of a pcb, normally the edge connector, during the wave soldering process. These tapes are manufactured by coating a polyimide film with a specially formulated highly cross linked silicone adhesive. The formulation and manufacturing the adhesive confer to these the following special characteristics.
- excellent adhesion on all substrates, even at high temperature.
- very high cohesion within the adhesion.
- excellent above 400°c ( 750°f ).
- perfect anchorage of the adhesive to the banking.
