Color Spoiling and Making Stain:
The first property to pay attention is color spoiling and making stain for antioxidants. Usually phenolic antioxidants don’t spoil color, but amin type of them spoils colors. So, it’s suggested to use phenolic antioxidants in light color mixtures. Making stain is related to chemical structure and it is also conclusion of diffusion of antioxidant. Phenolic antioxidants have high dissolution and so they don’t make stain.
Volatility: Another property of antioxidants is volatility. And it is related with the molecular structure of antioxidants. Usually they have high molecular mass and show little volatility. Although they have the same molecular weight, because of the molecular structure phenolic antioxidants are more volatile. This situation is important with regard to the antioxidant loss caused by the air circulation on rubber surface and heat transfer effect in the service area that rubber works.
