New MRP-SL bearing is squeak-free
Bearing squeak is more than just an annoyance, it is also an indicator of a slip-stick condition with increased friction and higher wear rates. Slip-stick conditions create vibration. If the vibration frequency is harmonic with the shaft/bearing/housing system, then squeaking will result if it is at an audible frequency. Lightly loaded joints are especially prone to these conditions.
Polygon attacked this problem by starting with their popular MRP bushings and adding a new solid lubricant to the wear layer. This eliminates or dramatically reduces squeak by reducing friction and the resulting vibration. This also shortens the typical break in period where squeaking is more likely to occur.
This new bushing is named MRP-SL and is suited for applications that require high load capacity, lowered frictional values, and minimal wear characteristics. Applications such as material handling equipment, high duty cranes, earth-moving equipment, construction equipment, agriculture equipment and food processing systems can all benefit from MRP-SL.
MRP-SL bushings come in a new black color for easy identification and have been shipping since May. Customers have been happy with the improvement. "We have been unable to produce a squeak during rigorous internal testing, and field reports have been highly positive." said Scott Farrisee, Vice President of Operations.
Testing also showed wear characteristics are the same or improved in all conditions. Polygon Company is committed to the continual improvement of product lines to produce innovative engineered composite materials and solutions.
