This shaft was in an American shear shredder and cost $40,000.00 in total repair bills to put the shredder back into service. The base shaft was only $8,000.00 but the rest of the damage and repair cost was more than $32,000.00 for the client.
Fortunately the machine, if bought new, would be $200,000.00. Fortunately the machine if bought used would be $100,000.00
But, $40,000.00 to fix a 6240 type shredder was not expected
Most people who own shredders or even want to buy a shredder do not know that these machines are designed to shred and that means they are tearing apart materials and in turn they are tearing themselves apart too.
