Insulated glazing sandwich is the most important component of the window because the glass makes up the most of the surface that gets in contact with the exterior.

An ensemble made up of two or three glass panes between which one can bring in a gaseous fluid. These pane glasses are perfectly sealed. When assembled in a Low-e glass package (low emissivity) this is used as secondary glass and is installed at the chamber interior. It has a silver oxide coating which can be obtained by:
a) magnetronic coating (soft)
b) pyrogenic coating (hard)

Thus, a window with normal glass has a coefficient of heat transfer k=5,4 W/m2k and a insulated window with two normal glass panes has the coefficient of heat transfer k=2,8 W/m2k. This coefficient can be improved by using a Low-e insulated glass (low emissivity) = 1 normal glass pane + 1 Low-e glass pane K=1,4 W/m2k. The profile of the heat insulating glass is 4-16-4 in a standard version, but on demand the dimensions can vary between 26,28,30,32,34 mm. These dimensions are for the triplex version of the heat insulating glass (3 glass panes).

- float LOW-E glass with a coefficient of heat transfer K=1,4 W/mpK

- reflexive glass in a wide range of colors;
- tinted glass;

- anti-breaking glass;
- ornamental glass;
- classic or ornamental sandblasted ground glass

The heat insulating glass is an ensemble made up from two perfectly sealed glass panes, between which there is a gaseous fluid (air or a different fluid). The working principle is: two glass panes are placed at a measurable distance in mm, separated by an aluminium frame, tightened and forming a single block unit which reduces the heat conduction and sound permeability. The thickness of the glass panes and the distance between them may vary. The thickness influences the thermal parameters but it mostly encreases the impact strength. The glass can be colourless or may have one of the following colors: blue, green, braun or grey in different tinges.

Although there are good quality glass panes available on the Romanian market, one uses still the float glass which has the coefficient of heat transfer k=2,8 W/m2k. This happens because the clients are not fully informed and the companies are taking advantage of this matter. We recommend the use of LOW-E glass. This can be easily checked, because it has a green film on one side (this is the silver coating) and float glass on the other side. The glass pane is always installed with the Low-E on the inside and there is no glass pane with Low-E on both sides.
