The ionized window glasses are a frequent feature within the modern automobiles. The ionized glasses are designed to protect the passengers from the sun rays, heat and if necessary from the curious eyes of passers-by. The ionizing process applies to all types of car window glasses, clear or stained. The automobiles are brought to Send 92 for the ionization of the stained surfaces. The procedure takes about 4 hours.
First the car windows are removed, usually the rear window and side windows. According to the Romanian Automobile Registry regulations, the windshield must be kept clear and only the upper side can undertake a ionization process, having the function of a sunshade.
In order to carry out the ionization process one has to take down the car windows. A team of experienced technicians of Send 92 take apart the side and rear windows. For the rear windows which are secured with glue, one uses a special removing method which implies the cutting of the putty with a flexible knife. After disassembling, the tehnicians carefully clean the glass and the window frame from car putty. The laid up and cleared windows are now taken in another room in order for it to be prepared for the ionization process. The sides of the rear window and the contact plug of the defogging system are insulated with protecting paper band.
The second phase of this process consists of cautious cleaning of the car windows. Firstly the windows are ungreased with special chemicals and then carefully wipped with clean peaces peaces of gauze. After the grease is removed a thin layer of alumina is applied. The actual ionization is the third phase of car window tinting process. Send 92 Pitesti disposes of special ovens in which the window glasses are ionized. On the inside, the ovens have special casings for holding the windows. Once the window glasses are introduced into the oven, the air is blown out. The exhaustion procedure can take between 30 and 45 minutes. A stainless steel anode is fitted in the middle of the oven.
The window glass is introduced into an oven with the inner side towards the anode. An electrical strom floats through the anode and the stainless steel ions begin to settle on the glass. The duration of the ions bombardment is in direct ratio with the density of glass blackening. Send 92 disposes also of ovens with displaceable anode which allows different ionization densities in the same oven. For instance, if one wishes that the side window glasses have a tinting density of 30% and the rear window 50%, this is possible with only one broil in the oven.
After ionization, the window glasses are taken out from the oven and put in readiness for the assembling on the car. The paratape is removed and the window glasses undertake another cleaning operation.
