Choosing pillow covers
Pillow cover is an outer covering of pillow or cushion which should match bedsheet, quilt and duvet cover. Pillow cover should be chosen with cautious measures attempting to buy soft quality fabric to ensure natural feel to the user. The material used in pillow cover usually made of cotton fabrics or the cotton blend with synthetic but make sure the fabric is soft and qualitative.
Pillow covers are also called pillow cases which enclose the pillow to protect it from every kind of dust and dirt. There are different types and designs of covers popular in homes and normally includes zip at the opening end. The designs and patterns of covers vary from fabric to fabric and often decorative and functional forms of covers are common.
The simple constructed pillow cover is washable and reused again on pillows. Pillow cover should not be confused with cushion covers as cushion covers are different and small in size than pillow covers. There are normally three types of pillow cover commonly used in Indian homes:
Zipper pillow covers are most prevalent in Indian homes in which cotton or blended cotton fabric is used. The zipper at the opening end doesn’t allow dust to enter inside pillow giving a snug fit. Various brands have been launching different styled pillow covering to give bedrooms and furnishing an ascetic look.
Envelop style covers are another common trend pillow covers which have folded hood at the back of cover. This fold hood can be flip over the end after the pillow is inserted into the cover completely providing full opening width.
Disposable pillow covers are made up of plastyne and normally used in hospitals where use and throw is most prevalent to maintain cleanliness. This type of pillow covers are heat sealed on sides having an open end and perforated dispensing carton for storage.
