Hydroxyethyl Methylcellulose / Methyl Hydroxyethyl Cellulose/ MHEC/HEMC/HPMC
Hydroxyethyl Methylcellulose is a non-ionic water soluble cellulose ether. It means HEMC/MHEC has tolerance for dissolved electrolytes, is pseudoplastic, and acts to improve emulsion stability. By treating cellulose with Sodium Hydroxide and reacting with mixed etherifying agents (Methyl Chloride & Ethylene Oxide), hydroxyethyl group & methoxy group are introduced to yield hydroxyethyl methyl ether. The reaction product is purified and ground to fine white powder. Because of its nonionic character it exhibits a wide range of compatibility with other ingredients. HEMC/MHEC is a water soluble polymer, soluble in either hot or cold water.
- The product Natrosol MHEC is best suitable for construction, Wall putty & making tile adhesive application with very high viscocity.
- Used as a thickener, binder, bond strengthener, coating and optical brightener aid, coating polymer, protective colloid, rebound or slumping reducer, rheology controller and modifier, workability enhancer, suspension and stabilization agent in Decorative Coating application.
