the type of temperature controller used to control the temperature of your industrial oven basically depends on how accurate the temperature needs to be for your particular process.

it can be as simple as a capillary tube thermostat, but beware as the variation can be as much as 10 degrees either side of your setpoint temperature.

most modern process ovens will use a digital electronic controller as these will give you excellent accuracy and are very reliable.

for either electrically heated ovens with ssr or thyristor power systems, or gas fired ovens with fully modulating burners, electronic "pid" controllers will provide good temperature accuracy and good fuel efficiency.

if you need the oven to operate for a precise time period then a timer can be fitted. The timer is typically configured to start it's count down when the oven reaches its operating temperature. When it's timed out it would normally shut down the heating but leave the air recirc fan running.

some processes, such as composites curing usually require ramp control, this is where the instrument has a program installed that will automatically bring the oven up to temperature in pre determined stages and provide dwell periods to allow the work piece to soak for a while.

note: it is always good practice to have a second controller to provide "overtemperature" protection. If the main controller should fail, this could save your oven or products from being damaged.
