B (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting)
DMB, represented as “TV in my hand” is a system standard, tried in Korea for the first time in the world, to provide a multimedia broadcasting service including video on the basis of the DAB (Eureka-147) system, a European digital radio broadcasting standard which provides CD-level high quantity audio service and data service at the same time.
Nowadays, there are two types of DMB service, terrestrial DMB and satellite DMB, where the terrestrial one is free, and the satellite one is a fee paying service. The main broadcasting began in late 2005,
Differently from ATSC of domestic terrestrial HD digital broadcasting types and terrestrial digital broadcasting, represented as DVB-T, a European-type terrestrial digital broadcasting way, DMB is a mobile broadcasting-receiving service for cell phones, portable TVs, car receivers etc.(these being the main target audiences) and is a multimedia service which unites broadcasting and communication including various independent data broadcasts, such as traffic broadcasting, news, image information etc. as well as small size screens, small quantity mobile pictures and high quality audio broadcasting.
